Dance
Backbeat studio offers a wide variety of genres to please the creative mind of each student. Dance is a form of art that challenges, relaxes, expresses, and engages the mind through visual attributions. Classes are offered in recreational, recital, and competition based. Students are encouraged to explore their dance path with us through our dynamic, inclusive, and community-building instructional strategies. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, we have something for you!
Recreational classes are for those 10 years of age and older due to the fast-paced learning environment. No dance experience is necessary, and dancers are encouraged to try all varieties of class levels to push and strengthen their limits! Recreational classes include a wide range of genres and difficulty levels to cater to multiple styles. Try out our specialty and guest choreographer recreational classes as well!
Each month a calendar will be posted to our website and social media platforms to include which recreational genre is taught on which day, the difficulty level of the class, and who the instructor will be! Choreography is different in each session, so be prepared to experience it all!

Our Classes
Acro
This is a class that focuses on the art form that incorporates both fluid and graceful movements of dance and the difficult tricks from acrobatics. Dancers not only learn how to execute each move with strength, flexibility, and technique but also learn how to incorporate it into a dance routine. Classes are offered by a combination of age and experience. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only.
Ballet
This is a class that is for the more dedicated dancer with self-discipline as a main focus. Ballet is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. Level 2 Ballet is an invitation by the instructor only, and can begin using pointe shoes.
Baton
Baton twirling is an artistic and aerobic sport that combines dance and acro skills while manipulating one, two, or three batons. It is similar to rhythmic gymnastics or color guard. Classes are offered by a combination of age and experience. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only.
Contemporary/Lyrical
This is a class that teaches the technique and styles for both contemporary and lyrical. Contemporary dance focuses on the contract and release of the body, and the unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction. Lyrical adheres to the various aspects of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance. Lyrical combines ballet technique with the freedom and musicality of jazz and contemporary. Classes are offered by a combination of age and experience. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only.
Hip-Hop
Hip Hop dance includes a wide range of "street dance" styles. This class offers freedom of creativity for musicality, strength presentation for tricks, and the use of rhythm flow. Examples of techniques explored are but not limited to b-boying, locking and popping, and fluid motions. Classes are offered by a combination of age and experience. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only.
Jazz
Jazz dance is a form of dance that combines both African and European dance styles. This high-energy dance class is sure to keep students on their toes with the exciting, sassy, jerky, and energetic movements it offers. Jazz branches from Ballet techniques to express musicality and surprise. Classes are offered by a combination of age and experience. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only.
K-POP COVERS
This is a class that surveys the popular genre of South Korean Pop Music groups. Classes will explore the dances created for these famous artists to learn new styles, tips, and tricks in a fun and recreational way. Original choreographers are noted and praised in each class. Students are allowed and encouraged to record themselves at the end of class.
MINI COMBOS
These are classes designed for ages 3-6 years for introduction instruction. Each class is organized for a fun and progressive pace that matches the interest of your littles! Genres are on a rotation for each session and include ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and technique.
pom
Pom combines the motions of cheerleading with the technique of dance that matches the upbeat timing of the music. This is a recital-based, not competition-based, class that explores cheer motions, jumps, leaps, turns, and a combination of dance genres. Classes are offered by a combination of age and experience. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only.
technique
Technique classes are a chance for dancers to build their skill sets in a more focused environment that is aimed at their experience. Skillsets that are addressed include but are not limited to flexibility, leaps, jumps, turns, strength, and balance. Advanced classes are invitation by the instructor only. These classes are recreational-based and do not owe a registration fee.
recreational classes
Recreational classes are for those aged 10 years and older! Each class varies for difficulty level and moves can be modified for the experience. These are classes that do not require a registration fee and are paid for per class. These classes do not perform in the recital, and each session is different combos taught (meaning they do not have to be taken consistently). Genres that are taught include ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, Zumba, yoga, and heels. Heels classes are for those that are 18 years+. Students are allowed and encouraged to record themselves at the end of each session!

private
Private lessons are a chance for 30 minutes or an hour of complete one-on-one instruction between the leader and the student. These classes are designed by the goals of the student, ensuring that growth is met at an ideal and realistic pace. These classes are recreational and do not owe a registration fee. Private slots are first come-first serve in any of the genres already offered. Ages 3 years+.
